This year’s Microsoft’s developer conference, Build, is all about collaboration in the hybrid work environment. This requires a departure from thinking in terms of apps. In the future, everything should work everywhere. To achieve this Microsoft announced that the future apps need to be collaborative apps.
But what are collaborative apps exactly?
Let’s have a look at what Nicole Herskowitz, Microsoft Teams General Manager says about collaborative app:
“With collaborative apps, end users can easily work with others to complete their projects at any time, from anywhere, and stay in the flow of work without needing to switch across multiple apps and data. And with Fluid components, end-users can create live, collaborative experiences that can be edited in real-time and shared across Teams and Office apps.“Nicole Herskowitz, Microsoft Teams General Manager
What does it mean that Microsoft lays its focus completely on collaborative apps?
This move effectively makes Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Office the core apps and environments for Microsoft to move forward with in the future. It also means that after opening up Teams for third party developers last year, it now pushes strongly for more apps to be developed for Microsoft and that Teams apps like the native timeghost Teams App, which we launched last May, will work not only on your desktop devices running on Windows, macOS and Linux but also your mobile devices running on iOS and Andorid.
Therefore we focused already in the early steps of the development process of timeghost on the integration into Microsoft Teams.
